Disco Dessert 7/5/21 - "Express Yourself" by the New York Community Choir...

 

 

"Express Yourself" was a club hit for the New York Community Choir, put together by singer/songwriter Benny Diggs. Appearing on their album The New York Community Choir, the song was written by Diggs with Arthur Lee Freeman and William Meeks Jr., and featured Elizabeth Gamble on lead vocals. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, "Express Yourself" was listed along with the single's "B-Side" "Have A Good Time". It peaked at #11 in 1977.
