"The Sound" was a big club hit for British "deep house" production group X-Press 2. Released as a stand-alone single, the track was written and produced by the act's Darren House, Darren Rock, and Ashley Beedle. On Billboard magazine's Dance Club Play chart, the single spent two weeks at #2 in 1996. It also reached the UK singles top-40 at #38.
