Songoftheday 1/5/16 - Somebody somewhere turns off the lights, somebody alone faces the night...
"We All Sleep Alone" - Cher
from the album Cher (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #14 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9
Today's song of the day comes from singer/actress/force of nature Cher, whose self-titled 1987 "comeback" album scored her a top-10 in eight years with the Michael Bolton-penned "I Found Someone". The second single from the album was also co-written by a guy with a top 40 hit that year, Jon Bon Jovi, who along with Bon Jovi bandmate Richie Sambora and song doctor Desmond Child produced "We All Sleep Alone". Her boyfriend Rob Camilletti, who cameoed in the "I Found Someone" video, also made an appearance here...
"We All Sleep Alone" became the second hit single from Cher, reaching the top-20 in June of 1988. The single also climbed to #11 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio chart. Internationally, the song made it to #27 in Canada, but missed the top-40 in the UK (#47) and stalled out at #76 in Australia.
