Songoftheday 12/15/15 - So don't start mixing truth with jealousy, the road we're on is clear as far as I can see...
"Pamela" - Toto
from the album The Seventh One (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #22 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8
Today's song of the day comes from the pop/rock band Toto, who were last seen scoring two top-40 hits in America with "I'll Be Over You" and "Without Your Love" from the Fahrenheit album. In 1988, with lead singer Joseph Williams (the son of Star Wars score maestro John) still in tow, they released their appropriately-titled The Seventh One album. The first single from the project was "Pamela", co-written by Williams with band keyboardist David Paich. With a splash of horns reminiscent of an 80's Chicago record, the mid-tempo homage to a girlfriend definitely seems like the singer is not sure of the longevity of the relationship....

"Pamela" became Toto's tenth and so-far last top-40 pop hit in the U.S. in May of 1988, while climbing all the way to #9 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the record peaked at #8 in the Netherlands, and scraped the Australia pop chart at #94.
A second single from the album, "Stop Loving You" featuring backup vocals from Jon Anderson of progressive rock kings Yes, climbed to #2 in the Netherlands but missed any American chart.

Up tomorrow: A three-named rocker from Indiana hopes for a woman. No Cougar, though.
