Dance Sweep: December 12, 2015...

I'll wrap up this week's "music sweeps" of the charts in Billboard magazine with the latest dance jams in the clubs and on the radio...

On their DJ-polled Dance Club Play chart, Nick Jonas climbs to #1 with "Levels". It's his third #1 dance hit after "Jealous" and "Chains"...

British "New Romantic" band Spandau Ballet, best known for their 1984 ballad "True", claim the top new entry on the club chart with remixes of their new track "This Is The Love". There's no clip available to the public as yet, but you can listen to the audio by clicking here.  Tony Hadley's voice is as 'buttah' as ever, and the Love To Infinity-style house mix from Eric Kupper is smooth as silk. The pop-style original is available in the States on their top-10 UK album The Story, and if this gets traction, maybe the mixes will be as well...

Veteran disco producer Tony Valor returns to the chart with "To The Top" featuring Chinese vocalist Li Na. Valor, who climbed to #3 in 1976 on this chart with "Ma-Mo-Ah", offers a mainstream pop that wouldn't have been out of place in 1989...

Los Angeles-based DJ Tim Wu, aka Elephante, arrives at #49 with "Age Of Innocence" featuring Singaporean/American trio Trouze and producer/songwriter Damon Sharpe. The bright, shiny EDM workout does sound like almost a hundred songs like it, but Trouze's vocals do cut through the wall of sounds at times to be the best part of the record...

Meanwhile, on the radio-monitored Dance Airplay/Mixshow chart, Adele conquers yet another format as "Hello" jumps from #3 to #1...

The top-ten pop ballad "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" from Meghan Trainor and John Legend finally pops in on this format at #34. This remix, from Kue, doesn't rush the song along as much as some of the efforts I've heard...

Canadian alt-soul star of the year the Weeknd lands at #35 with "In The Night", my "Dance Pick of the Week". His last three singles, "Earned It", "Can't Feel My Face", and "The Hills", all reached the top ten on this chart, and I feel this is headed there as well, with the post-Jackson sheen that "Can't Feel My Face" had...

Well, that does it for today's musical journey... Thanks for taking the ride, and hopefully something has caught your ear. Cheers!
