"Girl Can't Help It" - Journey
from the album Raised On Radio (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #17 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8
Today's Song of the Day is by the arena-rock band Journey, who shed a couple members and returned with a sleek, more pop-inflected album Raised On Radio in 1986. With a top-ten hit ("Be Good To Yourself") and a top-20 follow-up ("Suzanne") under their belt, the group released the mid-tempo highlight from the album, "Girl Can't Help It". Featuring flawless harmonies under lead singer Steve Perry's soaring voice, the track was written by him along with remaining bandmates Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain...
"Girl Can't Help It" climbed into the top-20 on the American pop chart in November of 1986, while returning them to the Mainstream Rock radio top-10 at #9. Over the border, the single was a minor Canadian hit at #60.
