Robbed hit of the week 1/5/15 - .38 Special's "Somebody Like You"...

"Somebody Like You" - .38 Special
from the album Strength In Numbers (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #48

This week's "robbed hit" comes from the Southern Rock band .38 Special, who were cruising through the mid-80s leaving a trail of hits, including their 1986 top-40 single "Like No Other Night". The follow-up to that was the power-pop of "Somebody Like You", co-written by band member Jeff Carlisi and Don Barnes along with song doctor Greg Bettis and Jim Vallance, which probably reveals why it sound like it was taken off a Bryan Adams record...

While "Somebody Like You" followed its predecessor into the top-10 on the Mainstream Rock radio chart at #6, the single stalled out at the midpoint on the pop top 100 in August of 1986, though not for the lack of juicy guitar "hooks" on the record...
