Rock Sweep: February 7, 2015...


Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, sampling the songs making their way on to the radio charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I've got the latest hits on rock radio...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, the Foo Fighters remain at #1 for a fourteenth week with "Something For Nothing"...

Kid Rock comes in at #47 with "First Kiss", the first single and title track from his upcoming tenth album. His last single, "Let's Ride", climbed to #36 on this chart in 2013. "First Kiss" also jumps up to #26 on the Mainstream Rock list in its second week...

Another mainstream rock track, Marilyn Manson's "Deep Six", lands on the big rock chart at #48. The track climbs to #17 on the other list...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel Canadian post-grunge act Three Days Grace jump to #1 with "I Am Machine". It's the band's twelfth #1 hit here and second with new lead singer Matt Walst...

New York indie-rock duo the Black Keys drop in at #29 with "Weight Of Love", the third single from their Turn Blue album. The first two, "Fever" and "Gotta Get Away", both reached the top-20 on this format. The song is already at #23 on the Alternative chart.


The current #1 song on the Alternative list, "Cigarette Daydreams" from Cage The Elephant, crosses over to this chart at #36. They went to #10 on this chart last year with "Come A Little Closer"...


Scandanavian metal heads Amaranthe (from Sweden and Denmark) arrive at #39 with "Drop Dead Cynical", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...


As glam-metal veterans Motley Crue embark on their "retirement" tour this year, they enter at #40 with "All Bad Things". Since their start in 1983 they've racked up seven top-10 singles on this chart, with "If I Die Tomorrow" their highest at #4 in 2004...


Meanwhile, on the Modern Rock/Alternative chart, the aforementioned "Cigarette Daydreams" from Cage The Elephant spends a second week at #1, and there are no new entries on the chart...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, George Ezra is on top for a tenth week with "Budapest", while the aforementioned "Weight Of Love" from the Black Keys is the top newbie at #21...

Roots rock musician JD McPherson lands at #29 with "Let The Good Times Roll"...


 The Foo Fighters drop in on this format at #30 with "Congregation". It features country star Zac Brown...
