Today's Song of the Day is by "red rocker" Sammy Hagar, who had already scored a top-40 hit with the first single from his VOA album, "Two Sides Of Love". For his second single he released a song inspired from a speeding ticket he received in New York, "I Can't Drive 55". Written by the singer and produced by Van Halen knobspinner Ted Templeman, the song would end up becoming his most remembered solo track...
"I Can't Drive 55" became Sammy's third top-40 pop hit in November of 1984, while revving up to #9 on the rock radio chart as well. When the feds raised the speed limit to 65, he had to reprise his song for the times....
