Album Sweep: November 23, 2013 - Part Two...


It's time for part two of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their way on to the Top 200 Albums sales chart in Billboard magazine. Coming in at #43 is Glee: The Music: Season 5: A Katy or a Gaga, a four-track EP from the episode of the TV show that featured guest spots from Adam Lambert and Demi Lovato, with 2 songs each from Perry and the Mother Monster....

Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Llandel Veguilla Malavé, otherwise known as Yandel, one-half of the duo Wisin y Yandel, debuts at #76 with his first solo album De Lider a Leyenda ("From Leader To Legend"). The duo, who are going to be mentors/judges on Mexico's version of The Voice, have had two top-ten albums in the US, with La Revolucion reaching #7 in 2009...


Punk Goes Christmas, which collects holiday songs done by bands like All Time Low, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, and more, sleighs in at #95...


Australian electronica group Cut Copy arrive at #98 with their fourth album Free Your Mind. Their last set Zonoscope went to #46 in 2011...


OK, now I've seen everything. Impending Doom, a "Christian Deathcore" or "Gorship" band from California, come in at #116 with their fifth album Death Will Reign. Their last set Baptized In Filth went to #107 last year. Their mantra is "worshipping God through gore". Yeah.


The fourth Christian Contemporary Music holiday collection WOW: Christmas Blue, enters at #133. The first, WOW Christmas Red, went to #45 in 2002...


British progressive trance artist Mat Zo debuts at #149 with his debut set Damage Control...


Texan progressive folk rock group Midlake enters at #150 with Antiphon, their fourth album. Their last, The Courage Of Others, made it to #94 in 2010...


The soundtrack to the upcoming Coen Brothers movie Inside Llewyn Davis, which was produced by T-Bone Burnett and features Marcus Mumford, Justin Timberlake, Bob Dylan, and more, comes in at #178...



New Hampshire-based post-hardcore act Our Last Night is in at #182 with their EP Oak Island. Their last full-length album Age Of Ignorance went a bit higher to #179 last year...


Johnny Mathis pops in at #183 with Johnny Mathis Gold: A 50th Anniversary Celebration, a compilation from 2006...


The Divided & United: Songs Of The Civil War collection makes it in at #190. It features country artists like Loretta Lynn and Jamey Johnson...



The last entry of the week is by newcomer Alex Faith with his Christian hip hop set ATLast at #193...


That does it for the second half of the new crop...out of these the three I would go with first are the Cut Copy, Mat Zo, and the Inside Llewyn Davis sets...
