Rock Sweep: March 9, 2013...
I'm ready for part two of today's "Chart Sweeps" of the newest songs making their debut on the music charts at Billboard magazine, and this time out it's the latest on rock radio..
On the main Rock Airplay chart, Muse reigns for a twelfth non-consecutive week with "Madness"...
The top debut of the week all the way at #23 is the return of French modern rock group Phoenix with "Entertainment", from their upcoming fifth album Bankrupt!. Four years ago, the band broke out big with two top-5 hits on this chart, "1901" and "Lisztmania"...

Slipknot side-project Stone Sour comes in at #46 with "Do Me A Favor", the first single from the second part of their two-release House Of Gold & Bones set....
The last entry on the chart at #49 is "Harlem", from the Danish hard rock group New Politics...it's already at #29 on the Alternative format in its third week...
...and now for the format charts...
On the Mainstream Rock chart, Alice In Chains keep on at #1 for a second week with "Hollow"...
The highest debut at #33 is by Device, not the Holly Knight-led group from the 80s but a alt-metal group led by Geno Lenardo of Filter and David Draiman of Disturbed. "Vilify" is the first single from their self-titled debut due in April...(NSFW)
Swedish death-metal outfit Avatar arrive at #39 with "Smells Like A Freak Show", which is in its second week on the active rock format...
Tremonti, led by namesake guitarist Mark of Creed and Alter Bridge fame, enter at #40 with "Wish You Well"...
Over on the Alternative/Modern Rock format chart, Imagine Dragons are on top for a second week with "Radioactive", while the aforementioned "Entertainment" by Phoenix is the top entry all the way at #19...
Newcomer Robert DeLong debuts at #37 with "Global Concepts" ...(NSFW)
English rockers the Virginmarys come in at #38 with the title track from their latest album, Dead Man's Shoes...
Across the board on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") radio, Iceland's Of Monsters and Men reclaim the top spot for a second non-consecutive week with "Mountain Sound"...
Eric Clapton is back with a new album Old Sock coming out in March, and the first single, "Gotta Get Over", arrives on this format first at #29...
The Mowgli's take their alt-rock top-30 hit "San Francisco" (now at #24 there) to #30 on this chart...
At the Active Rock format, Alice In Chains make it to #1 with "Hollow"...
...and that Alternative Rock charttopper "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons make it here at #38....
Lastly, on the Heritage Rock list, Alice In Chains are in week number three at #1 with "Hollow", and Stone Sour's "Do Me A Favor" seen above is the sole entry at #21...
That does it for this section...I'll be back in an hour and a half with the newest on R&B radio. Rock on!
