Pop Sweep: March 9, 2013...

Hey gang, it's time to kick off today's five-part "chart sweeps" sampling the latest songs to make each of the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine. As always, I'll start off on the pop side of things...

On the "big" chart, the Billboard Hot 100, the magazine's fucked up rules allowing any 30 second clip of the "Harlem Shake" that is supposedly "authorized" (like they get a cut, a tiny tiny tiny cut) counts towards the songs points, allows the joke track to remain at #1 for a second week. Probably to be replaced next week by a goat.

The top entry at #42 is the return of St. Louis rapper Nelly, with his ode to the fast life in "Hey Porsche". He has topped the Hot 100 four times so far, the last time with "Grillz" in 2005...

Dutch DJ/producer Nick van der Wall, aka Afrojack, comes in at #88 with "As Your Friend" featuring Grammy sourpuss Chris Brown. His name is most well-known in the States as a tagalong on Pitbull's "Give Me Everything", and on his own he just missed the top-40 at #41 in 2010 with "Take Over Control"...

Right under that at #89 is my current fave Emeli Sande' with her first American hit single, "Next To Me". The Scottish singer took this to #2 in the UK and #1 in Ireland last year...

Country rocker Eric Church places the fifth single from his #1 album Chief, "Like Jesus Does", at #99. Out of the five that made the chart, "Springsteen" went all the way to #19 last year...

The last entry on the big list at #100 is rapper Future with the remix of his song "Karate Chop" featuring Lil' Wayne. The song entered the R&B chart last week and resides at #30 this time out. He also is featured on the #10 single this week, Lil Wayne's "Love Me", but as a lead artist he has yet to reach the top-40, coming as close as #50 last year with "Turn On The Lights"...(NSFW)

Now on to the individual radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Pop radio chart, Taylor Swift stays at #1 for a sixth week with "I Knew You Were Trouble", as the aforementioned "Next To Me" by Emeli Sande' is the top debut at #37...

One rung below at #38 is Denver pop/rock band OneRepublic with "If I Lose Myself"...

The last entry at #39 is Justin Bieber with the fourth radio single from his #1 Believe album, "All Around The World" featuring rapper Ludacris, who also helped the Canadian in his breakthrough track "Baby"..

Meanwhile, on the Adult Top-40 chart, Pink enjoys a second week on top with "Try"...

The top debut here at #36 is the Hot 100 top-10 hit "Stay" by Rihanna featuring the song's co-writer, Mikky Ekko...

The other new song on the list is the former top-10 modern rock hit by Youngblood Hawke, "We Come Running" at #38...

Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary format chart, Phillip Phillips' "Home" is at #1 for week number 6...

The top debut at #27 are Voice coaches Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton with "Just A Fool"...

The other new song at #30 is San Franciscans Train with "Mermaid"...

That's it for this kickoff, I'll return in 90 minutes with the newest on rock radio...

..in the meantime, you can check out my personal top-100 of the week by clicking here. Thanks!
