Rock Sweep: March 23, 2013...
Welcome back to part two of this week's "chart sweeps" of the newest songs making their way on to the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out it's the latest on rock radio...
On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Imagine Dragons spend a second week at #1 with "Radioactive"..
The top debut of the week at #46 is neo-metal group Linkin Park with "Castle Of Glass", which is featured in the video game Medal Of Honor Warfighter. It's already been a top-10 pop single in Germany and Austria, and is finally getting its due back home. The group has topped this chart three times before..

Coming in at #48 is Oklahoma-based hard rock band Aranda with "One More Lie". They are already at #18 at the active rock and #21 on the mainstream rock formats...
American Idol Phillip Phillips enters at #49 with his latest, "Gone, Gone, Gone", which this week jumps into the top-10 on the Triple-A format....
The last debut on the big rock chart at #50 is alt-metal rockers Trapt with "Bring It". They have gone to #1 twice before on this chart in the early "naughties" with "Headstrong" and "Still Frame". Their new one recently made the top-20 on the mainstream rock chart...
..and now for the subgenre format charts...
On the Mainstream Rock radio chart, British hard rock act Young Guns score their first #1 with "Bones"...
The top debut at #34 is the return of Rob Zombie, with the first hit for the nu-metal horror king in three years with "Dead City Radio And The New Gods Of Supertown". Rob has had four solo top-10 hits on the Mainstream format, with 1998's "Dragula" reaching #6...
Michigan hard rock outfit Pop Evil is back at #35 with "Trenches", the first single from their upcoming Onyx album. Their last set spun out three top-10 hits on this chart, with "Monster You Made" reaching #6 in 2011...
California alt-rockers Beware Of Darkness arrive at #36 with their first, "Howl"...
...and wrapping it up at this format at #38 is Eye Empire, and alt-metal "supergroup" with "More Than Fate"...(it debuted last week at "active rock" and is up to #35)..
Meanwhile, on the Modern Rock/Alternative list, the aforementioned "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons enjoys a fourth week on top...
The sole debut here at #40 is a surprisingly low-key one for the Strokes, one of the critic's darlings of the 00s with "All The Time". The band went to #5 back in 2001 with the classic "Last Nite"...
Over at the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Mumford & Sons reach #1 again with "Lover Of The Light"...
Rocketing in at #19 is Canadian newcomer Serena Ryder with "Stompa". It was a top-10 pop hit in her own country....
Capital Cities take their hit "Safe And Sound" to this format as it enters at #27. It's already #13 on the big rock chart and #11 on Modern Rock radio...
You may know Canadian group Walk Off The Earth from their one-instrument-all-hands cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know", but now their on the chart in their own terms at #28 with "Red Hands", and it's my rock "pick of the week"...
...and coming in at #30 is French modern rock group Phoenix with "Entertainment", which is #14 on the alt-rock chart on #21 on the whole Rock Airplay list...
On the harder-edged "Active Rock" chart, Young Guns also climb to #1 with "Bones", and the aforementioned "Trenches" by Pop Evil, "Dead City Radio..." by Rob Zombie, and "Howl" by Beware of Darkness debut at numbers 31, 32, and 33 respectively...
The odd man out at #38 is American alt-metal band Drowning Pool with "One Finger And A Fist"...(NSFW)
On the last subchart, the older-skewing Heritage Rock format, Alice In Chains rack up a fifth week on top with "Hollow", and there are no new songs on the chart...
That does it for this week's rock recap...I'll return in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio. Rock on!
