Pop Sweep: March 30, 2013...
Hey gang, it's time to kick off today's five-part "chart sweep" of the latest songs making their way on to the weekly singles charts in Billboard magazine. As always, I'll start with the pop side, as well as the "big" chart.
On the Hot 100, the joke continues as that 30-second meme remains at #1 for a fifth week. Ridiculous. And I have not seen one positive reaction to this anywhere. Good going, guys.
The top debut of the week at #77 is rapper French Montana with his second lead-artist Hot 100 hit, "Freaks", featuring American Idol judge du jour Nicki Minaj. It follows "Pop That", which made it to #36 last year. Now, can we please proclaim the "airhorn" trick "over" already? Lord. (NSFW)

Family country trio the Band Perry return at #87 with the second single from their upcoming Pioneer album, "DONE.". There's still no video or audio clip of the song . Nuts! What are they thinking?
Philly mixtape artist DJ Drama enters at #90 with "So Many Girls" featuring rappers Wale, Tyga, and Roscoe Dash. It's his third to reach the chart. He last was on with "My Moment" last year...(NSFW)
Country rocker Jason Aldean goes nostalgic at #93 with "1994". It's the fourth track from his latest Night Train album to make the Hot 100.
...and now for the pop radio format charts...
On the mainstream pop radio format chart, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis cash in at #1 for a second week with "Thrift Shop".
The sole debut on the 40-position list at #40 is British X Factor winners Little Mix with "Wings". I guess Simon Cowell's management is trying to position them as the female One Direction, but at least they've got the chops for the task, and this former UK #1 is my "pop pick of the week"...
Meanwhile, at the Adult-top-40 chart, Maroon 5 spend a second week on top with "Daylight"...
The top entry at #34 is the latest pop offering from Taylor Swift, "22". Bouncy, entertaining, weightless.
Entering at #36 is X Factor US judge Demi Lovato with her newest, "Heart Attack". Her last to make this chart, "Give Your Heart A Break", went to #12 last year...
The third of the entries is the latest from Fall Out Boy, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" at #40, the same rank their last appearance, "I Don't Care", reached in 2008...
Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio format, Phillip Phillips reigns for a ninth week with "Home".
The only new track on this list at #26 is modern rock act Imagine Dragons with "It's Time"...
That does it for this sweep....I'll be back in 90 minutes with the latest on rock radio. In the meantime, you can check out my personal top-100 of the week by clicking here...
