Brit Sweep: February 3, 2013...
Hey gang.....Superbowl Sunday is here, and while I'm here at work, it's time to check out the new songs making the official singles charts in England today, as the Bingo Players' "Get Up (Rattle)" spends a second week at #1...
The top entry this week is by British rapper Devlin, who scores his second top-10 single with "Rewind" at #10. The song features indie singer/songwriter Diane Birch on vocals. He reached #7 last year with "Watchtower". Grade: A-

UK electronic/garage music duo Disclosure follow up their excellent #11 hit "Latch" with "White Noise" featuring critics' fave AlunaGeorge. Grade: B
The fabricated boyband the Risk, who came in 9th on the eighth season of X Factor, arrive at #60 with their first single, "Missiles". One of the benefits of having the show put together solo contestants in a group is they all have strong voices, though the song seems like some committee said "go and rewrite 'Firework' as a love song". Grade: C+
One of the three new songs on Justin Bieber's Believe Acoustic, "Nothing Like Us", comes in at #68. Grade: C-
Saturday Night Live faves and comic musical trio The Lonely Island get their second top-100 hit in the UK as "YOLO" featuring Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar is at #77. "I Just Had Sex" went to #68 in 2010 (so close...). This was featured in last week, SNL, the worst in recent memory, but this was probably the most entertaining part of it. Grade: C+
The 1975 come in at #84 with "Chocolate". The alt-rock group hails from Manchester. Grade: B-
Alicia Keys has had ten top-10 singles in Britain (including lead and featured credits), including her last, "Girl On Fire", and she's back at #92 with "Brand New Me". Grade: B+
The final debut this week is the return to the top-100 of a single from the cast of Glee, who have been absent from the top-100 since last season's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" went to #95. They, well, "Santana", is back with a version of Taylor Swift's "Mine" at, again, #95. Meh. But, hey, Naya Rivera has 10X more singing chops than the rest of the new cast combined. Grade: B
That's it for tonight....I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, Candletime, part two of this week's "album sweep", and my robbed hit of the week. Cheers!
