Today's SOTD comes from the British rock group Genesis, whose transformation from progressive rock heroes to pop hitmakers was complete with their Invisible Touch album in 1986. The record had already spun off four top-5 pop hits in America with "Throwing It All Away", "Land Of Confusion", "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight", and the #1 title track. The fifth single from the release in the U.S. was the softer sounding "In Too Deep", with lyrics written by lead singer/drummer Phil Collins about being trapped in a waning but heartbreaking relationship...


"In Too Deep" became the band's fifth consecutive top-5 pop hit in America in June of 1987. The single topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio chart for three weeks, and made their Mainstream Rock list at #25. Internationally, as the second single from the record in their native Britain, the song peaked at #19, and it also reached the top-20 in Australia and Canada...
