Songoftheday 6/1/15 - In a lifetime, made of memories I believe in destiny, every moment returns again in time...
"Meet Me Half Way" - Kenny Loggins
from the album Over The Top (Original Soundtrack) (1987) and Back To Avalon (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #11 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 12
Today's SOTD comes from the "soundtrack king of the 80s", Kenny Loggins, whom we last seen with his high-flying #2 hit from Top Gun, "Danger Zone". His next big hit came from yet another movie, the Sly Stallone arm-wrestling movie (yes, you heard that right) Over The Top. The soundtrack was put together by disco legend Giorgio Moroder, though it was chock full of 70s rock holdouts like Robin Zander from Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, and even Sly's little brother Frank got a cut on the album. Loggins' song, "Meet Me Half Way", written by Moroder with Tom Whitlock, recaptured the same mid-tempo bombast they topped the charts with in Berlin's "Take My Breath Away"...
"Meet Me Half Way" stopped right short of the top-10 on the American pop chart in June of 1987, while becoming his biggest solo adult contemporary radio chart hit up to that point, peaking at #2. North of the border, the single went to #28 in Canada.
