Soul Sweep: July 4, 2015...

We're at the "hump" of today's "chart sweeps", sampling the songs making their way on to the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out I'm serving up the latest hits on R&B radio...

On their main R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart, The Weeknd is at #1 for an eleventh week with "Earned It"...

Dropping in at #48 is former New Edition singer Johnny Gill with "Game Changer". The track is also at #13 on their Adult R&B chart. Gill had a trio of solo #1 R&B hits on his self-title album in 1990 including the top-3 pop hit "Rub You The Right Way"...

Another 'blast from the past' who is back in Monica, who slips in at #50 with "Just Right For Me" featuring Lil' Wayne. She's scored six #1 hits, most recently with "Everything To Me" in 2010...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B radio panel, "Earned It" is on top for a sixth week...

Avant lands at #24 with "Special". In 2009 he peaked at #6 with "When It Hurts"...

The 3 Winans take their gospel single "Dance" to this format at #26...

Lyfe Jennings comes in at #29 with "I Love You"...

Lastly, on the Rhythmic format, whose stations include more dance/pop music in their playlists, Omarion climbs to #1 with "Post To Be"...

Dutch singer Natalie La Rose follows up her big hit "Somebody" with the song at #32, "Around The World"...

Rapper Big Sean teams up with singer/songwriter John Legend and Kanye West at #34 for "One Man Can Change The World", my "Soul Pick of the Week"...

Latin soul singer Miguel enters at #39 with "Coffee"...

...and finally Rae Sremmurd arrive at #40 with "This Could Be Us"...

I'll be back in 90 with the latest on country radio...
