from the album Better Than Heaven (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #3 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's Song of the Day is by dance music singer Stacey Swain, who as Stacey Q, who with producer Stephen St. James in the band SSQ before getting signed as a solo act (with her band and producer in tow). She released her first single "Shy Girl" in 1985, along with an album that would have the prototype versions of what would be her breakthrough single a year later. "Two Of Hearts". Co-written by freestyle singer Sue Gatlin who released her own single, the song was re-vamped in a bouncy post-Madonna sound that boomed from club speakers around the country....

"Two Of Hearts" climbed to the pop top-10 in America in October of 1986. The record also landed at #4 on the Dance Club Play chart in Billboard, and even crossed over to their R&B chart at #56. Internationally, the single was a top-10 hit in Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland, and top-20 in France, but stiffed in the UK.
