Today's Song of the Day comes from the Californian new wave group Animotion, who had their big break in 1985 with the top-10 pop hit "Obsession". The band followed up that success with another dancefloor-ready song with "Let Him Go". Written by co-lead singer Bill Wadhams, and sung with Astrid Plane, the record as well as the video certainly were ambitious...

"Let Him Go" popped into the American top-40 for a lone week in July of 1985. Internationally the single was a minor hit in England (#78) and Germany, where it came one notch away from being a top-40 hit there as well...

By the time Animotion would return to the top-40 in America, both Plane and Wadhams would be gone, replaced by actress Cynthia Rhodes and former Device singer Paul Engemann.
