Album Sweep: May 31, 2014 - Part Two...


It's time for part two of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on this week's Top 200 Albums sales chart in Billboard magazine. Coming in at #53 is the second full-length effort from indie-pop musician Kishi Bashi, with Lighght.

Indie-country singer Sturgill Simpson scores his first hit on the chart with his second album Metamodern Sounds In Country Music at #59...


The cast album to the hit show Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, lands at #60....


Melodic hardcore band Bane rock in at #86 with their fourth full-length album Don't Wait Up...


Swedish melodic "death metal" act Avatar debut at #97 with Hail The Apocalypse, their fifth full-length album...


Punk band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are back at #102 with their sixth studio album Are We Not Men? We Are Diva! It's their fifth album including live and compilation sets to make the chart, and their highest rank as yet...as with their other album, this has a dozen covers, this time of female singers like Cher, Christina Aguilera, and Paula Abdul...


Irish folk/soul musician Hozier makes his appearance at #107 with his Take Me To Church EP...


Debbie Harry and her iconic punk/pop band Blondie are back at #109 with Blondie 4(0) Ever: Greatest Hits Deluxe Redux/Ghosts Of Download. It combined their new studio album with a disc a re-recorded hits. It's their first time back on the albums chart in over a decade. Their biggest record came in 1978 when Parallel Lines went to #6...


Reggae group Tribal Seeds come in at #114 with their fifth album Representing...


The soundtrack to the movie Neighbors starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron enters at #135. It has tracks from Flo Rida, Icona Pop, Fergie, and more...


Georgia-based horrorcore rapper Boondox lands at #147 with his fifth set Abaddon. His last album, South Of Hell, peaked at #54 in 2010...


Electronica musician Tobacco, from Pennsylvania, drives in at #157 with his third full-length studio album Ultima II Massage...


New York indie-pop band the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart place their third album Days Of Abandon at #168. Their last, Belong, made it up to #92 in 2011...


The final debut of the week at #169 is the soundtrack to the new Godzilla reboot. The score is from composer Alexandre Desplat. The pop-music-filled soundtrack to the 1998 version went all the way to #2 on the album charts...


 That's all for the second half of the bunch...out of this fifteen the four I would go for first are the Hozier, Sturgill Simpson, Beautiful, and Pains of Being Pure At Heart albums....
