Album Sweep: May 24, 2014 - Part Two...

I'm back with the second half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on Billboard magazine's official Top 200 Albums sales chart. You can check out part one by clicking here, and as before I've included links to buy anything plus some of the artists' other work...

Coming in at #43 is indie-folk-rock musician Ben Harper with his mother Ellen on Childhood Home. Ben has had three top-ten albums so far, with Both Sides Of The Gun reaching #7 in 2006...

Singer-songwriter Kina Grannis returns at #48 with her sixth studio album Elements. She had won the Doritos Crash The Super Bowl ad contest back in 2007. This is her second time on the chart and first in the top half...

Post-hardcore band Being as an Ocean score their first Top 200 album as How We Both Wondrously Perish, their second album, enters at #57...

Christian folk outfit All Sons & Daughters also bring their first record to the big chart, as their self-titled third album ascends to #58...

Epica, a symphonic metal act from the Netherlands, come in at #110 with their sixth studio album The Quantum Enigma. It's their second charting album; they took their last one, Requiem for the Indifferent, to #105 in 2012...

Christian rapper Thi'sl lands his first charting album on the Top 200 as Fallen King is in at #115...

Korean-pop boy band Exo-K come in at #129 with The 2nd Mini-Album: Overdose...

Latin singer Juan Gabriel sends his Mis 40 En Belles Artes to #140. In 2006 he took La Historia Del Divo to #92...

The album Soundtrack Of Summer: The Very Best of Foreigner & Styx is a bit misleading, since it has the current lineups of the groups without lead singers Lou Gramm or Dennis DeYoung. It even has a remake of "Hotel California" with an Eagle. Don Felder. Yeah. So there's that, and it's at #146...(but then again, Fox viewers can be easily fooled)..

English indie-rockers The Horrors are back at #147 with their fourth album Luminous. Their third, Skying, went to #97 in 2011...

Folk-punk group Andrew Jackson Jihad have one of the weirdest band names on the chart, and their fifth album Christmas Island comes in at #153...

Michael Stryper, the lead singer for Christian glam-metal stars Stryper and fill-in for the band Boston, puts his sixth solo album I'm Not Your Suicide in at #154.

The final debut of the week at #194 pairs legendary producer Brian Eno with Karl Hyde from the electronica group Underworld for Someday World. Eno's collaboration album with David Byrne from the Talking Heads, My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, went to #44 in 1981...

That's all for the second half of the new bunch...out of this thirteen the three I would recommend first are the Horrors, Ben and Ellen Harper, and Eno and Hyde albums...
