German Sweep: May 20, 2014...
It's time to cross the border into Germany to check out the songs making the official singles chart this week.
The country sees a new #1, and it's from a singing competition on TV that's not Eurovision (that'll be next week), but rather their version of the Idol franchise, Superstar. The winner of the current season, Aneta Sablik, was born in southern Poland, and her single "The One" comes in at the top spot...

British modern rock giants Coldplay return at #6 with "A Sky Full Of Stars", which was produced by dance/folk-rock star Avicii..
Another new singing "reality" show, Sing Meinen Song, apparently had German music stars cover other songs. R&B singer Xavier Naidoo sang the song "Amoi seg’ ma uns wieder" ("One Day We'll Meet Again" in Bavarian) by Austrian singer Andreas Gebalier, and his version reaches the chart here at #12, but I can't find a clip of it....
The original by Gebalier also reaches the chart at #18...
In between those two versions at #16 is Canadian singer Kiesza with her former UK #1 "Hideaway"...
the runner-up to Aneta in the final of Superstar, Meltem Acikgöz, comes in at #25 with "Explosion In My Heart"...
The collaborative single from the late Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake, "Love Never Felt So Good", arrives here at #28. In 2010 Jackson's posthumous single "Hold My Hand" went to #7 in this country...
Electronica violinist Lindsey Stirling comes in at #59 with "Shatter Me" featuring Lizzy Hale from the rock band Halestorm..
One notch below that at #60 is Enrique Iglesias with "Bailando"...
American country icon Waylon Jennings passed in 2002, and yet his first charting hit in Germany, "Dreaming My Dreams With You" comes in at #67 this week...
The second of Andrea Gabalier's three entries on the chart, "So Liab Hob I Di" ("I Love You So Much" in Bavarian), is in at #70...
Rappers KC Rebell and Summer Cem drop in at #78 with "Hayvan" ("Animal" in Turkish)
The last new entry of the week at #82 is the third one from Andrea Gabalier with "Zuckerpuppen" ("Sugar Dolls"...
