Rock Sweep: May 24, 2014...






Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" has the latest rock songs on the radio as monitored by Billboard magazine.

On the main Rock Airplay chart,the Black Keys take over at #1 with "Fever". It's the duo's third chart-topper on this list after "Tighten Up" and "Lonely Boy"...

The top entry on the chart and this week's "Rock Pick of the Week" is from Swedish indie-rock singer Tove Lo. "Habits (Stay High)" enters at #34, and its her first...

South African post-grunge band Seether comes in at #38 with the first single from their upcoming Isolate and Medicate album, "Words As Weapons". The song is already in the top-20 on the Mainstream Rock chart. They went to #2 in 2011 with "Country Song"...



Canadian bro-rock group Theory Of A Deadman arrive at #42 with "Drown", which also jumps up to #17 on the Mainstream Rock list. Previously their high has been "Lowlife", which peaked at #4 in 2011...


Another Canadian act, reggae rock band Magic!, debuts at #44 with "Rude"


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Linkin Park stays on top for a second week with "Guilty All The Same", while the aforementioned "Words Are Weapons" by Seether leaps on the chart at #20...

Hard rock band Like A Storm, from Auckland, New Zealand, make their entrance at #38 with "Love The Way You Hate Me". This has to be the first time I've heard a didgeridoo in a metal song...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, The Black Keys ascend to #1 with "Fever", making their fourth climb to the top (the two mentioned above as well as "Gold On The Ceiling"), as the aforementioned Tove Lo single "Habits" is the highest entry at #36...

Indie-pop duo Capital Cities follow up their #1 alternative hit "Safe And Sound" with the song at #37, "One Minute More"...


Another indie-pop duo, Twenty One Pilots, have the other debut at #38 with "Car Radio". It follows up their #10 hit "House Of Gold"...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format,  "Fever" rules for a fifth week, while Magic!'s "Rude" is the sole entry at #29...
