Soul Sweep: June 22, 2013...

We're at the "hump" of this week's "chart sweeps" of the new records reaching the Billboard music charts, and this time out it's the latest on R&B radio...

On the main R&B/HipHop Airplay chart, rapper Wale sits on top for a seventh week with "Bad" (now available with either Tiara Thomas or Rihanna providing backup)...

The current Hot 100 #1 single, "Blurred Lines", reaches the R&B chart at #42, which isn't surprising, considering the record's resemblance to Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up". He previously topped the chart twice, with "Lost Without U" in 2007 and "Sex Therapy" two years later...

Singer Mario returns at #47 with "Somebody Else" featuring Nicki Minaj. In 2004 he went to #1 in R&B with "Let Me Love You"...

Lastly at #48 is rapper French Montana with "Ain't Worried About Nothin'". He previously went to #2 with "Pop That"...(NSFW)

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B chart, there's a new #1 as Alicia Keys and Maxwell join up for "Fire We Make"...

Singer/songwriter Lyfe Jennings has the top debut at #26 with "Boomerang", my "Soul Pick of the Week"...

..
.Chris Brown enters the chart at #34with "Fine China"...

Child of Destiny Kelly Rowland also comes in with the decidedly more modern "Kisses Down Low"...(NSFW)

And lastly at #40 is gospel legend Shirley Caesar with "God Will Make A Way"...

That's all from the soul stations....I'll return later with the newest in country radio. Groove on!
