Songoftheday 6/17/13 - I want to walk in the open wind I want to talk like lovers do I want to dive into your ocean...
Eurythmics - "Here Comes The Rain Again"
from the album Touch (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #4 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 14
Today's Song of the Day is by the new wave duo Eurythmics, whose breakthrough album Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) scored them a #1 single with the title track and a top-40 follow-up with "Love Is A Stranger". Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart went back in their studio in London and recorded their third album Touch, which was released at the end of 1983. The third single released in the UK became their first from the record in America, and the melancholy yet strikingly beautiful (thanks to orchestral embellishment from the London Symphony Orchestra) "Here Comes The Rain Again" put them back on top of the charts...
The single became their second to make the top-10 on the US pop chart in March of 1984, while also reaching #4 on Billboard's Dance Club chart and #6 on the adult contemporary radio panel. In the UK, it made the top-10, as it did in Canada, Ireland, and Norway. Touch also was their highest-charting album, making it to #7 in 1984.

...as did Macy Gray last year...
...and in an odd twist, the Celine Dion single "Taking Chances", co-written by David Stewart, includes the chorus line "Talk to me like lovers do"...
...and lastly some performances from the group themselves....first from the TV show The Tube (and not miming!)..
...next up from their tour in 1987..
..and an acoustic take from their Peace tour...
Up tomorrow: the most ambitious music video of its time. You know it. Cause this is...
