Songoftheday 4/13/13 - You are my best idea the moment I became inspired....

Stacy Lattisaw - "Miracles"
from the album Sixteen (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #40 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 1

Today's Song of the Day is by R&B ingenue Stacy Lattisaw, who released her first album in 1979, when she was just thirteen years old. Her first single, a version of "When You're Young And In Love" done in both disco and ballad versions, was her first minor R&B hit. The next year, with her sophomore set, Let Me Be Your Angel, her single "Dynamite!" went to the top of the dance chart, making her the youngest artist to do so. The title track from the album became her first top-40 pop hit, as well as reaching the top-10 of the soul chart. Stacy's next album, With You, gave her her biggest solo R&B hit with her cover of "Love On A Two-Way Street", which went to #2 on the R&B chart and her second top-40 hit.

By the time Stacy's fifth album was released, she was sixteen years old, but yet already a veteran of the music scene. Her first single from the album was the ballad "Miracles"....

"Miracles" became Lattisaw's third and final top-40 pop hit, and reached #13 on the R&B chart as well. She would go on to have more soul hits, with four more top-10 singles there including a #1 duet with Johnny Gill, "Where Do We Go From Here". However, Stacy split from the pop music scene in the 90s and only continued to sing gospel music.

For some reason, I didn't remember this actually grazing the Top 40. Her episode of Unsung was one of the more mundane episodes they've had, which in her case turned out to be a good thing, since she survived teen fame and seems pretty grounded.
