Brit Sweep: April 21, 2013...

The weekend is almost over, and it's time to check out the new records making on the official sales charts in the UK released today. This time out the top three sellers are brand spanking new...

The big winner of the trio is drum and bass act Rudimental, who get their second #1 hit with "Waiting All Night" featuring Ella Eyre. They had reached the top last year with "Feel The Love"...

The runner-up this week is will.i.am (thankfully), who returns with Anne Frank expert Justin Bieber with "#THATPOWER", one of two singles that enter the chart this week in the top-40.

Arriving in third place is a song that was just released on Friday, French dance masters Daft Punk's buzzworthy "Get Lucky" featuring Pharrell Williams on vocals (not to mention Chic's Nile Rodgers on guitar). This is their fourth top-10 hit in this country - only their single "One More Time" went higher, reaching #2 in 2000.

British newcomers Clean Bandit leap on to the list at #17 with "Mozart's House", my "Brit Pick of the Week"...

Trance artists Mat Zo (a Londoner) and Porter Robinson (from North Carolina) team up at #28 with "Easy". Last year Robinson hit the top-10 here with "Language"...

The other will.i.am track to arrive on the chart this week at #34 is "Fall Down", featuring Miley Cyrus on vocals. Shit cray.

After going to #1 in countries like Germany and Australia (it's also on my personal chart), English folk singer Passenger finally reaches the top-100 in his home country as "Let Her Go" comes in at #44.

Canadian singer and former viral video sensation Carly Rae Jepsen pops in at #55 with "Tonight I'll Be Getting Over You". She topped the charts here (like everywhere else in the world) last year with "Call Me Maybe"...

A second new Rudimental track, "Right Here", makes it to the top 100 at #72...

British singer Frank Turner enters at #79 with "Recovery", a song that's already on the rock charts in America. Frank made the top-40 in Britain in 2010 with "I Still Believe", which was featuring in the London Olympics....

Making it's first ever appearance on the top-100 of the British charts at #80 is the Motown classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. The duo made the chart seven times back in the day, with "The Onion Song" the biggest going to #9 (though it's been disputed that Valerie Simpson provided Tammi's "vocals" due to her illness)...

The final debut of the week is, well, odd. It's the Viralites with a self-proclaimed "Novelty Social Dance Song" called "Feel the Rhythm". Watch the Twerqness.

That does it for tonight....thanks for dropping by, and I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, Part Two of this week's "album sweep", and my "robbed hit" of the week. Cheers!
