Rick Springfield - "Affair Of The Heart"
from the album Living In Oz (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #9 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's Song of the Day is by Australian actor/singer Rick Springfield, who had quite a good 1982. Besides portraying Dr. Noah Drake on the then-hugely successful soap opera General Hospital, Rick started the year with a top-20 single ("Love Is Alright Tonite"), then released his Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet album (his highest-charting one), which scored him three more top-40 hits: "Don't Talk To Strangers", "What Kind Of Fool Am I", and "I Get Excited". He was also nominated for two Grammys, for Male Pop Performance of "Don't.." and Male Rock Performance of "I Get..".

The following year Rick released his Living In Oz album, named for his homeland, and the third since his comeback in 1981. THe first single released from the set was the driving rock of "Affair Of The Heart", written by Springfield with Danny Tate and Blaise Tosti...

"Affair Of The Heart" put Rick into the pop top-10 for the fourth time, as well as reaching the top-30 on the rock radio chart. It also reached the top-40 in Australia and Canada as well, and earned him another Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal (he lost again, this time to Michael Jackson).
