Soul Sweep: July 21, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for the third part of this week's "chart sweeps" of the radio and sales lists on Billboard magazine's music charts. This time out I'm gonna sample the new track debuting on the main R&B/Hip-Hop chart and Adult R&B chart.

The big new entry this week is by Keyshia Cole, who has three #1 R&B hits under her belt (all from her 2007 album Just Like You), including the top-10 pop hit "Let It Go". Her latest previews her upcoming album Woman To Woman, and it's "Enough Of No Love" featuring Lil' Wayne at #54...

Queens rapper Waka Flocka Flame enters at #80 with the third single from Triple F Life, "Get Low", featuring mainstream rap stars Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and Flo Rida...

At #87 is Young Jeezy with help from Future on "Way Too Gone", the seventh charting single from his latest, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlers' Ambition. He's had one #1 hit in 2005 with "Soul Survivor". His newest is Way Too Gone"...(NSFW)

Three 6 Mafia member Juicy J breaks out on his own at #92 with "Bandz A Make Her Dance" featuring Lil' Wayne & 2 Chainz...(NSFW)

and for a classy close to the chart, at #99 is singer The-Dream with "Dope Bitch" featuring Pusha T. He had four top-5 R&B hits in a row, with "Rockin The Shit" at #2 his best so far..

and at #100 is Ace Hood with "B.L.A.B. (Ballin' Like A Bitch)"...his last single, "Body 2 Body" with Chris Brown, was a top-10 hit...

Whew! Now for a smoother break over on the Adult R&B list, the highest entry belongs to Trey Songz (again), this time with "Heart Attack", which already went up to #3 on the main R&B list. It comes on to the adult list at #27...

Veteran funk outfit the Bar-Kays had their first hit way back in 1967 with "Soul Finger". They are back at #37 with "Grown Folks" featuring the Unknowns...now, have to apologize, for the life of me I cannot find a clip of this song anywhere. I mean, even their myspace page hasn't been updated in 3 years, and their facebook is pretty much a hot mess. So good luck whomever's playing it, the song's not even available on iTunes or Amazon.

Well at #38 is a singer by the name of Mitchelle'l (?) with "Irene"...this may be the first "Maybach Music" track to make the adult list....

and to close this out, at #40, is gospel preacher Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago with "Awesome"...

That's all folks...next up in an hour an a half, the newest country hits....groove on!
