Kraut Sweep: July 10, 2012....


Hey folks, time now for the second of today samplings of overseas hits - this time "Kraut Sweep", a look at the new music selling and getting radio play in Germany...

The top debut on the German music singles charts this week all the way at #15 is by American singer Lana Del Rey, with the fourth single from her Born To Die album called "Summertime Sadness"...and yes, it sounds like a young Marlene Dietrich...

German Eurodance act Cascada have had three top-10 hits in their homeland, including the totally awesome "Evacuate The Dancefloor" a couple years back, and their latest, "Rhythm Of The Night" comes in at #35...it's a remake of the 1990's Corona hit...


Katy Perry's US top-5 hit "Wide Awake" makes its way to German shores at #54....


Two tracks from rockers Linkin Park make it onto this week's singles charts, no doubt helped by people cherrypicking from their Living Things album that debuts at #1 on the German album chart this week. First, at #68, is "Lost In The Echo"...


...while "In My Remains" comes in at #83...


American indie-rock trio the Gossip has got a big following in Germany, and they have had five top-100 songs here, including the #2 hit "Heavy Cross". Making it seven is the second single from their album Joyful Noise, and it's "Move In The Right Direction"...
