Today's song comes from country singer Faith Hill, who made the ultimate pop crossover in the spring of 2000 with the title track from her fourth album "Breathe", which ended up becoming Billboard magazine's top pop hit of the year.  The second release from the record was just as mainstream radio friendly, if even more so. "The Way You Love Me", written by Michael Dulaney and Keith Follese, was an extra sunny and bright love song that gave just a passing glance at country music. The production is pure pop sugar with the harmonies on the chorus overmodulated and the synths pricking in even before the guitar on the re. But nevertheless country radio's love affair with Hill was still going strong, and the single hit there first, where it topped the radio chart and entered the Hot 100 top-40 months before mainstream radio, which was still playing "Breathe" on overdrive, started to give it attention. In the end the single took two trips in the top-40 spending over a year on the charts. The music video is just as vivid as the song itself, casting the extremely photogenic Hill in a variety of alter egos...

"The Way You Love Me" originally hit the top 40 in May of 2000, but eventually reached the top ten in January of the following year. The song spent four weeks at #1 on Billboard's Country Singles chart, and six weeks at #3 on the Adult Contemporary radio list, while getting to #8 on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format. Internationally, the single made the top ten in Hungary (#4), Belgium (#5F/#8W), and Spain (#8), and climbed into the top 40 in the UK (#15), Italy (#21), New Zealand (#23), Australia (#31), Sweden (#35), and Ireland (#40). Faith and the album will be back to the series....
