"Take Me Higher" was a club hit for the studio act XLR8, put together by remixers Richard "Humpty" Vission (Gonzalez) and Peter Lorimer, featuring singer Jennifer "Sugar" Starr. Released as a stand-alone single, the song was written and produced by Vission & Lorimer, who with Sugar would go on to record under the moniker Pure Sugar. On Billboard magazine's Dance Club Play chart, the single peaked at #23 in 1996.
