Today's song of the day comes from the young R&B trio Immature, whose second album Playtyme Is Over had broke Batman, LDB, and Romeo onto pop radio with the top-5 hit "Never Lie" and top 20 follow-up "Constantly". However when it came to follow up one of the biggest hits of the decade in Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" from the Dangerous Minds soundtrack, their "Feel The Funk" missed the pop top-40 altogether in the fall of 1995. Nevertheless, the song would be included in their next album We Got It that arrived that November. The next single would be the title track "We Got It", written by producers Juanita "Smooth" Carter, Chris Stokes (her brother), and Sean "The Mystro" Mather. The loose, funky jam gave them an edge to return to the pop top-20. Carter even appears for a rap verse on the record...
"We Got It" became Immature's third top-40 pop hit in February of 1996. The song also climbed to #11 on Billboard's R&B chart. Internationally, the song was their sole charting hit in the UK at #26, as well as hitting top-40 in New Zealand at #27.
