Songoftheday 8/17/18 -I've never been so sure about anything before, but this lovin' feeling's gonna be a feeling I feel forever more...
"Saving Forever For You" - Shanice
from the album Beverly Hills 90210: The Soundtrack (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #4 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 20
Today's song of the day comes from the soul singer Shanice, who had landed two top-40 pop hits from her second album Inner Child in 1992 with "Silent Prayer" and the #2 classic "I Love Your Smile". Later that year, the artist contributed a song to the soundtrack to the extra-hot "teen soap opera", Beverly Hills 90120. "Saving Forever For You", written by song doctor supreme Diane Warren and produced by none other than soft-rock king David Foster, was pre-ordained to become a hit, but no doubt the popularity of the show helped greatly when it was released as the first single. The music video even has Shanice cavorting around with the cast including Brian Austin Green...
"Saving Forever For You" became Shanice's second (and so far most recent) single to reach the pop top ten in America in January of 1993. The song also climbed to #20 on Billboard's R&B format chart, but surprisingly missed their adult contemporary (or "easy listening") list altogether. Internationally, the single reached #25 in Australia, spent two weeks at #29 in Canada, got to #39 in the Netherlands, and just missed the top-40 in the UK at #42.
