Songoftheday 5/9/15 - Well I've been out of the woods for six days and nights now, and I'm a little hot wired but I'm feeling all right now...
"Light Of Day" - The Barbusters (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts)
from the album Light Of Day (Original Soundtrack) (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #33 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5
Today's SOTD comes from the movie Light Of Day, a drama about siblings in a rock band starring post-Back To The Future hot commodity Michael J. Fox and rocker Joan Jett. Jett, who topped the pop charts for seven weeks with "I Love Rock & Roll" (my very first "Song of the Day"), but after nicking the top-40 in 1983 with a cover of Sly Stone's "Everyday People", her next two albums went relatively unnoticed by pop radio. With her band the Blackhearts she also recorded four songs for the soundtrack, including the title track, which was written for the film by Bruce Springsteen...
"Light Of Day" reached the American pop top-40 in April of 1987, while also climbing to #13 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart.
