Pop Sweep: May 23, 2015...
I'm ready to kick off the first of today's "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making their way on to the various charts in Billboard magazine. As usual, I'll start out on the pop side of things, then later in the day move on to the latest in rock, R&B, country and dance music...
On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of internet streaming (like Spotify and YouTube), radio airplay from all genres, and sales (like AmazonMP3 or iTunes), Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth remain at #1 for a fifth week with "See You Again"...
Leaping on to the chart at #29 is the brand new

Latin soul artist Miguel returns at #78 with "Coffee". It's the first single from his upcoming third album Wildheart. In 2012 he climbed to #17 with "Adorn"...
Reggae-pop vet Shaggy is back at #87 with "I Need Your Love" featuring Mohombi, Faydee, and Costi. It's Shaggy's first time on the Hot 100 since his back-to-back #1's "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel" in 2001...
Alt-soul singer Jidenna debuts at #89 with his first hit on the chart, "Classic Man" featuring Roman GianArthur...
Nick Minaj enters at #93 with "The Night Is Still Young", the eighth track from her Pinkprint album to make the Hot 100. The second, "Anaconda", made it all the way to #2. Nicki's also at #13 with her collaboration with David Guetta, "Hey Mama"...
The sole entry from The Voice this week is from frontrunner Sawyer Fredericks, whose performance of indie singer/songwriter May Erlewine's "Shine On" lands at #99.
And now on to the pop radio format charts...
On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, The Weeknd climbs to the top with "Earned It", while the aforementioned Britney/Iggy duet jumps in at #23. and Nicki Minaj's "Night Is Still Young" pops in at #28..
Pitbull barks in at #38 with "Fun" featuring Chris Brown. It follows Pit's "Time Of Our Lives", which went to #4 on this format...
Jamaican reggae-pop singer OMI takes his international hit "Cheerleader" on to this list at #39...
Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Walk The Moon run from #4 to #1 with "Shut Up And Dance"...
Two records with the same name make their debut here. First up at #35 is former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert with "Ghost Town", my "Pop Pick of the Week". This is his fifth time at this format; he peaked at #14 with "If I Had You" in 2010...
Madonna slides in at #38 with her own "Ghosttown" (different song). The top-5 club hit is also at #20 on the Adult Contemporary chart...
Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "Easy Listening") radio chart, Ed Sheeran holds on top for a tenth week with "Thinking Out Loud"...
Indie-pop band Echosmith come in at #26 with "Bright". Their breakthrough hit "Cool Kids" went to #11 on this list... (the song is #12 on the Adult Pop list)...
Jason Derulo dances in at #30 with "Want To Want Me". It matches the rank of his only other single to make this chart, "In My Head". The track is at #4 on the MainstreamTop-40 list, and #13 on adult Top-40...
