Pop Sweep: June 6, 2015...
It's time to kick off the first of today's five "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making the charts in Billboard magazine. As usual, I'll begin with the pop side of things, then later in the day move on to the latest in rock, R&B, country, and dance music...
On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of sales, internet streaming, and radio airplay from all formats, Taylor Swift rockets from #53 to #1 to land her fourth #1 pop hit with "Bad Blood" featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar. Three of those #1s are from her current "pop" project 1989. It's also Lamar's first #1 hit as well..
While Swift may have given up the "country" life, current genre A-lister Luke Bryan scores the highest new entry on the chart with "Kick The Dust Up" at #26. It's the first single from his upcoming fifth studio album Kill The Lights. It marks his 13th trip into the top-40 on the Hot 100; he peaked at #15 with "That's My Kind Of Night" in 2013...

The winner of this season's The Voice, 16-year-old Sawyer Fredericks, proves his worth with his "winner's single", "Please", jumping in at #37. Four of his prior performances on the show made the Hot 100. This song was written by personal fave Ray Lamontagne (whose "Trouble" Sawyer covered on the show)...
Another of Fredericks' songs from the finale, Neil Young's "Old Man", makes the chart at #63. The original peaked at #31 back in 1972...
British pop singer/songwriter Jessie J enters at #68 with her contribution to the soundtrack to the Pitch Perfect 2 movie, "Flashlight". She didn't write it - Sia and Sam Smith "pitched" in. Last year, her collab "Bang Bang" became her highest-charting hit in the U.S. at #3...
Russo-German DJ/producer Zedd comes in at #88 with "Beautiful Now" featuring Jon Bellion. It's his second hit from his just-released sophomore album True Colors. The first, "I Want You To Know" with Selena Gomez, went to #17. American singer/songwriter Bellion co-wrote Eminem's "The Monster" and Jason Derulo's "Trumpets"...
The runner-up to Fredericks in The Voice this time out, Meghan Linsey, arrives at #92 with "Change My Mind". Meghan previously was in the country duo Steel Magnolia (which also won a TV music competition Can You Duet), and went to #68 on the Hot 100 with their top-10 country hit "Keep On Lovin' You"...
And now on to the pop radio format charts...
On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth hold on top for a second week with "See You Again"...
Taylor's newly-crowned Hot 100 leader, "Bad Blood", leaps on to this chart at #13, right above her last single, the former #1 "Style"...
Last week's "Pop Pick", Ed Sheeran's "Photograph", jumps in at #34...
Adam Lambert moves in at #39 with his 'Ghost Town". It's his third trip on this chart; he climbed to #15 with "Whataya Want From Me"...
Fall Out Boy lands at #40 with "Uma Thurman". It's the follow-up to "Centuries", which went to #13 here..
Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Walk The Moon's "Shut Up And Dance" is at #1 for a third week...
Maroon 5 leaps on to the chart at #19 with their "extra" single from the expanded version of their V album, "This Summer's Gonna Hurt...". Their last single, "Sugar", also jumps back up to #2...
Kelly Clarkson follows up her #6 hit "Heartbeat Song" with the song at #39, "Invincible"
Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, Ed Sheeran reigns for a twelfth week with "Thinking Out Loud".
The sole new entry at #30 is British new romantic veterans Spandau Ballet with "Steal", my "Pop Pick of the Week". They went to #1 way back in 1983 with "True"...
I'll be back in 90 minutes with the latest on rock radio...
