Pop Sweep: May 30, 2015...

It's time to start catching up from my weekend away with the first "make-up" "chart sweep", checking out the songs making their way on to the various singles charts in Billboard magazine. As usual I'll begin with the latest pop hits...

On the "Big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of radio airplay from all genres, sales, and internet streaming, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth spend a sixth week on top with "See You Again"...

The song making the highest debut this week is from country singer Chris Young, whose "I'm Coming Over" jumps in at #57. It's the first single from his upcoming fifth album. Three of his previous singles have made the top-40 on this chart with "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)" reaching #33 in 2009...

Pop/rock hitmakers Maroon 5 have added a new single on to an upcoming "expanded edition" of their V album, and "This Summer's Gonna Hurt..." surfs in at #67. The other three singles from the set reached the top-10 with "Sugar" peaking at #2...

DJ Khaled returns at #74 with "How Many Times" featuring Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne, and Big Sean. It's the third single from his still-unreleased I Changed Alot album; the last, "Hold You Down", also with Brown, went to #39...

The fifth single from Pitbull's Globalization album, "Fun" with Chris Brown, moves in at #77. It follows "Time Of Our Lives" with Ne-Yo, which climbed to #9...

British singer/songwriter Ed Sheerran delves into his memory book and pulls out my "Pop Pick of the Week" with "Photograph" at #92. It's the fourth Hot 100 hit from x; the former #2 "Thinking Out Loud" is still in the top-10 at #9..

The winner of the 14th season of American Idol, Nick Fradiani from Connecticut, makes a rather modest entry at #93 with "Beautiful Life". Considering the train wreck the show's become, it's no surprise...

On that other singing competition show, The Voice, the winner, Sawyer Fredericks, drops in a notch below at #94 with his cover of Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years" from the semi-finals. The original went to #31...

And now on to the pop radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, Khalifa's "See You Again" moves to #1 for his first week (his first on the pop chart), while the aforementioned Maroon 5 song jumps in at #35...

The other newbie at #40 is alt-dance act Major Lazer with Frenchman DJ Snake and Danish singer MO on "Lean On"...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40, Walk The Moon are on top for a second week with "Shut Up And Dance", while Ed Sheeran's "Photograph" flies in at #25...

Country quartet Little Big Town cross over to this format with their single "Girl Crush" at #38. The song is in the top-20 on their regular genre..

Taylor Swift sneaks in at #40 with "Bad Blood" featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar. It's the fourth single from her 1989 album and the other three all went to #1 on this format...

Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" reigns for an eleventh week...

Fellow countrymen Mumford & Sons score their second hit on this chart at #30 with their former #1 rock hit "Believe". Previously they went to #11 with "I Will Wait"...

When I can I'll get back to the newest on rock radio...
