"(I Just) Died In Your Arms" - Cutting Crew
from the album Broadcast (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #1 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13
Today's SOTD is by the British rock band Cutting Crew, who came together in the mid-80s under lead singer Nick Van Eede and guitarist Kevin MacMichael, who met in Canada while in different bands. The new group released their debut album Broadcast in 1986, and the first single from the set, "(I Just) Died In Your Arms", written by Van Eede, was inspired by the "afterglow" feeling....
"Died In Your Arms" climbed all the way to #1 on the American pop chart in May of 1987. The track crossed over to both the Mainstream Rock (#4) and Adult Contemporary (#24) radio charts in Billboard magazine, and even nicked the Dance Club Play list at #37. The record also topped the singles chart in Canada, Norway, and Finland, and made the top-10 in Australia, Germany, Ireland, and their native Britain, where it peaked at #4.
