Songoftheday 3/13/15 - Here I am just like I said I would be, I'm your friend just like you think it should be...
"Change Of Heart" - Cyndi Lauper
from the album True Colors (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #3 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13
Today's Song of the Day is by Cyndi Lauper, who's second solo album True Colors had its anthemic title track climb all the way to the top of the American pop chart in 1986. Her second single, "Change Of Heart", sped up the pace for a song co-written by Cyndi with Essra Mohawk, a Philly singer/songwriter who wrote and sang the "Interjections!" song on Schoolhouse Rock. With added guitars from Nile Rodgers anchoring the production and the Bangles singing backup, it was a natch success...
"Change Of Heart" became the second top-10 hit from True Colors in February of 1987, while scaling to #4 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart. Internationally, while the single was a top-ten hit in France and top-20 in Canada and Australia, it relatively stiffed in Britain at #67.
