Brit Sweep: March 22, 2015...
The first weekend in spring is coming to a close (um, with snow still on the ground), and I'm ready to check out the songs making their debut on the official singles chart in the UK this week, as Sam Smith and John Legend's "Red Nose Day" version of "Lay Me Down" is #1 for a second week...
The top debut of the week just misses the top ten as "So Freakin Tight" from Tough Love comes in at #11...

Londoner neo-house singer/musician MNEK enters at #38 with "The Rhythm", my "Brit Pick of the Week". It's his first top-40 hit as a lead artist, though he went to #4 as a featured singer on Gorgon City's "Ready For Your Love" last year...
As American rapper Kendrick Lamar's new album, To Pimp A Butterfly, is the top-selling album of the week in the UK, five of its tracks make their debut on the chart (while radio single "I" re-enters at #88). First up at #56 is "King Kunta"...
Next up at #76 is "Wesley's Theory" featuring George Clinton and Thundercat...
One notch under that at #77 is "These Walls" again with Thundercat as well as Bilal and Anna Wise...
Disco legend Nile Rodgers and his band Chic are back at #79 with their new jam "I'll Be There". Back in the 70s they had five top-ten hits in this country, with "I Want Your Love" going the highest to #4 in 1978...
Let's go back to Kendrick with the upcoming second single from To Pimp A Butterfly, "The Blacker The Berry"...
Irish rockers Kodaline are in at #87 with "The One". Their radio single "Honest" went to #39 here...
The third single from Meghan Trainor's debut Title album, "Dear Future Husband", sits in at #89. "All About The Bass" topped the list in the UK, while "Lips Are Movin'" stopped at #2...
The last of the Kendrick entries at #92 is "Institutionalized" featuring Snoop Dogg, Bilal, and Anna Wise...
The final newbie on the chart at #96 is Ella Henderson with "Mirror Man", the fourth single from her debut Chapter One album. "Ghost" hit #1 last year...
That's all for today...Cheers!
