Rock Sweep: April 4, 2015...


Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest songs on rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine...

On their aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Walk The Moon's "Shut Up and Dance" is on top for a sixth week...

Rocketing in at #15 is the biggest thing from Iceland since Bjork, indie-rock band Of Monsters and Men, with "Crystals", my "Rock Pick of the Week". It's the first single from their upcoming sophomore album Beneath The Skin. Their debut spun off a pair of top-3 hits with "Mountain Sound" reaching #2...

Alternative rock act My Morning Jacket enters at #45 with "Big Decisions". The track is already up at #7 on the Triple-A radio format...


British neo-metal duo Royal Blood comes in at #47 with "Little Monster", which also leaps to #19 on the Mainstream Rock list. It follows "Figure It Out", which became their first top-10 hit at #6...


Brooklyn lo-fi duo Matt & Kim bust in at #49 with "Get In", which stands at #28 on the Alternative list. In 2012 they made it to #44 with "Let's Go"..


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, the Foo Fighters land their sixth #1 hit with "Congregation"...

Metal "supergroup" HellYeah drop in at #35 with "Hush", the third hit from their Blood For Blood album. It follows "Moth" which peaked at #8...


Stars in Stereo, featuring singer "Becca", moves in at #39 with "Fairweather Friend"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Modest Mouse hang on top for a second week with "Lampshades On Fire", while the aforementioned Of Monsters and Men single jumps in at #22...

British modern rock kings Muse return at #39 with "Psycho". Three of their singles topped this chart, with two of the longest running, "Madness" at 19 weeks and "Uprising" at 17...


Finally, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Death Cab For Cutie is at #1 for a second week with "Black Sun", as "Crystals" is the high debut at #15...

Irish indie-folk singer/songwriter/Grammy nominee Hozier arrives at #29 with the third single from his debut, "Work Song". His classic "Take Me To Church" topped this list last year...


Lastly, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness takes his top-20 modern rock hit "Cecilia and the Satellite" to #30...
