Songoftheday 12/7/15 - You told me that you're serious but I got to know for sure, you say how much you want me but I've heard it all before...
"Prove Your Love" - Taylor Dayne
from the album Tell It To My Heart (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #7 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11
Today's song of the day is by Taylor Dayne, who brought her big voice to American radio and clubs with the dance-pop classic "Tell It To My Heart" in the winter of 1988. Her follow-up single was the equally frenetic "Prove Your Love", written by Seth Swirsky (who co-wrote "Tell It") and Arnie Roman, and it not only shared a fast-paced tempo but also a lyrical theme with her debut hit, demanding her love show some evidence, take it as you will for what form that would take....
"Prove Your Love" became Taylor's second top-10 pop hit in the U.S. in May of 1988. The extended remix also became her first to reach #1 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart (and the only one of her top-40 pop hits to do so). Internationally, the single reached the top ten in the UK (#8), Germany (#4), Switzerland (#2), the Netherlands (#6), and Sweden (#10).
