Songoftheday 5/30/15 - I gave up on lovin' a long long time ago, I had myself believing I'd rather be on my own...

"Get That Love" - Thompson Twins
from the album Close To The Bone (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #31 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5

Today's SOTD comes from the new wave group Thompson Twins, who were last seen with their Here's To Future Days album, which spun off a pair of top-10 pop hits in America with "Lay Your Hands On Me" and "King For A Day". Member Joe Leeway left the band in 1985, reducing them to a "true" duo of Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie. The two released their next album, Close To The Bone, in 1987, with the first single, "Get That Love", sounding not too far off from "King...."...

"Get That Love" reached the American top-40 in May of 1987, while in their native Britain the single stalled down at #66.

And here's the Twins miming the song on British TV (sorry, the sound sucks ass)...

Up tomorrow: The Thin White Duke gets monotonous.
