Songoftheday 5/18/15 - If I had to live my life without you near me, the days would all be empty the nights would seem so long...

"Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" - Glenn Medeiros
from the album Glenn Medeiros (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #12 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's SOTD comes from singer Glenn Medeiros, a Hawaii native who got his big break with a local talent show where he covered an album track originally recorded by jazz-soul musician George Benson. "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You", written by Gerry Goffin and Michael Masser (the latter who co-wrote Benson's "The Greatest Love Of All"), got noticed by a Phoenix DJ and soon found a home on pop radio...

"Nothing's Gonna Change..." became Glenn's first top-40 pop hit in the US in June of 1987, while also crossing over to the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart in Billboard at #4. Internationally, though, the record did even better, topping the singles chart in Britain for a month, as well as going to #1 in Canada, France, Ireland, Spain, and The Netherlands.
