Songoftheday 5/11/15 - A fight for king or country can liven any heart, to sleep beneath the open skies a love affair can start...

"I Will Be There" - Glass Tiger
from the album Thin Red Line (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #34 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5

Today's SOTD comes from the Canadian mainstream rock band Glass Tiger, who scored back to back top-10 pop hits in the U.S. with "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" and "Someday" from their debut album The Thin Red Line. The third single from the record was the uptempo rock song "I Will Be There", co-written by the band with Jim Vallance, who was fellow countryman Bryan Adams' longtime writing partner. Like in "Don't Forget Me", Adams also makes an appearance on background vocals, but not in the video where they apparently dumped the group in the frozen wilderness (part-time without instruments Journey-style)...

"I Will Be There" became Glass Tiger's third top-40 pop hit in America in April of 1987, while climbing to #21 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. As the fifth single from the album in their native Canada, the single stopped at #29, their fifth consecutive top-40 hit in that country.
