Soul Sweep: April 18, 2015...


We're at the "hump" of today's "chart sweeps", sampling the songs making their way on to the various singles charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out I'm serving up the latest on R&B radio.

On their main R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart, rap duo Rae Sremmurd score their first #1 hit with "Throw Sum Mo" featuring Nicki Minaj and Young Thug...

Kendrick Lamar comes in at #46 with "King Kunta" from his #1 album To Pimp A Butterfly. It's the second single to make the airplay chart from the set; ("i" went to #11), and it's my "Soul Pick of the Week"...

Producer and musician Rico Love lands at #47 with "Somebody Else". Two years ago he peaked at #7 with "They Don't Know"..



Actor/singer Jamie Foxx arrives at #49 with "You Changed Me" featuring Chris Brown. The track also jumps six notches on the Adult R&B list to #23...


Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B list, Kem's "Nobody" is on top for a ninth week...

Veteran lite-jazz saxophonist and producer Boney James returns at #29 with "Either Way" featuring Stokely...


Lastly, on the Rhythmic format, whose stations include more dance/pop music in their playlists,  Natalie Le Rose reigns for a third week with "Somebody"...

Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" makes a late entry all the way up at #19...


Wiz Khalifa's tribute to the late Paul Walker from the Furious 7 soundtrack, "See You Again" featuring Charlie Puth, comes in at #35..


The aforemention "King Kunta" enters here at #38...

The final newbie of the week at #40 is alt-soul artist Jidenna with "Classic Man" featuring Roman Gianarthur...
