Songoftheday 4/22/15 - I used to follow yeah that's true, but my following days are over now I just gotta follow through...
"Midnight Blue" - Lou Gramm
from the album Ready Or Not (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #5 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11
Today's Song of the Day comes from rock singer Lou Gramm, who was the lead singer of one of the hottest mainstream rock bands of the 80's, Foreigner. After their Agent Provocateur album which spun off their sole #1 pop hit, "I Want To Know What Love Is", the band took a break, while Lou recorded his first solo effort, Ready Or Not. "Midnight Blue", written by Gramm with his solo band's bassist Bruce Turgon, sounds like what Foreigner should've sounded like without their pop-progression though still as accessible...
"Midnight Blue" climbed into the top-5 on the American pop chart in April of 1987, his highest-charting solo single. The record also went to #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart.
