Songoftheday 4/10/15 - When we met I always knew I would feel that magic from you...
"Caught Up In The Rapture" - Anita Baker
from the album Rapture (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #37 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 2
Today's Song of the Day comes from the "quiet storm" R&B singer Anita Baker, whose landmark album Rapture had nabbed her a pop top-10 hit with "Sweet Love" in 1986. Her follow-up is the track that helped title the album, "Caught Up In The Rapture". Written by Gary Glenn and Diane Quander, the lush mid-tempo love ballad perfectly encapsulated the rush of romance that inspired the album...
"Caught Up In The Rapture" became Anita's second top-40 pop hit on the chart for Valentine's Day in 1987. The record did even better crossing over to the top-10 on both the R&B (#6) and Adult Contemporary (#9) genre charts.
